Why Religion is Important for Kids
Religion is important for children of all ages for at least two reasons.
• Identity. In the span between childhood and maturity, children experience an “identity crisis,” or in some respects a spiritual awakening. Those who are given to understand that they are created in the image of God, and that they are alive because someone loves them, tend to face challenges more successfully than those whose identity consists of nothing more than a package of hormones.
• Security. Children feel insecure in a society of moral relativism. They may put up a blustery facade to cover their insecurity, but deep down they hunger for eternal truths that they can hang onto, that can’t be changed or destroyed by peers or circumstances.

Let’s look at a model of the greatest teacher who ever lived. Jesus would give a parable, then ask questions, allowing his hearers to think for themselves.
Which of these two sayings have more impact on you?
1) We should all have more unconditional love and care more about others. We should be kind and considerate, and help those who need help without thinking of ourselves or resenting the inconvenience.
2)The Good Samaritan
On these rare occasions a few words paint an indelible picture on our hearts, changing our lives permanently. Such can be the power of a parable.
A line well-written is worth a thousand words shouted. A moment of faith more than scores of years doubted.
