Great Shall Be the Peace of Thy Children

When Jesus taught the Nephites on the American continent, He quoted Isaiah, saying,

“And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy children.”(3Nephi 22:13)

In today’s turbulent world, great is the need for our children to have peace.  How can we best teach our children of the Lord, that they might enjoy that much desired peace?
When Ammon taught king Lamoni, he gave a model of where to begin to lay a foundation for faith, not only for missionaries teaching throughout the world, but also for parents to teach their children.
34 Ammon said unto him: I am a man; and man in the beginning was created after the image of God, and I am called by his Holy Spirit to teach these things unto this people, that they may be brought to a knowledge of that which is just and true;
36 Now when Ammon had said these words, he began at the creation of the world, and also the creation of Adam, and told him all the things concerning the fall of man, and rehearsed and laid before him the records and the holy scriptures of the people, which had been spoken by the prophets. . .

39 But this is not all; for he expounded unto them the plan of redemption, which was prepared from the foundation of the world; and he also made known unto them concerning the coming of Christ, and all the works of the Lord did he make known unto them.(Alma 18:34, 36, 39 emphasis added)
The Prophet Joseph Smith, to whom the plan of salvation was revealed, said: “The great plan of salvation is a theme which ought to occupy our strict attention, and be regarded as one of heaven’s best gifts to mankind.”
Ammon taught Lamoni the plan of salvation, which is, simply, the Creation, the Fall, and the Atonement. Our society is in great turmoil today because so many people do not know this plan. In the following chapters  these three vital topics are treated.  It may be surprising, but by teaching Heavenly Father’s profoundly simple plan for us, you will see how His great love in that plan will deliver us from misery and bring exquisite peace.

(Chapter 71)

What Our Children Need to Know
If there be no Christ there be no God; and if there be no God we are not, for there could have been no creation. But there is a God. (2Nephi 11:7) Hence, “we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look” for forgiveness of their sins. (2 Nephi 25:26)
Our families deserve to know the truth, which is:
— There is a God.
— God is eternal, and can be trusted.
— He created us in His image.
— We are His children and He loves us. He has a plan of happiness for us that provides for our deliverance from the evils of this world.
— This plan has commandments.
— Obedience to those commandments brings us safety, peace, and salvation.
