Religion and America's Teens
Moral Values
What is Native Americans' Religion?

Central to Jesus’ visit on this continent was his blessing of the Native American children, and his message to their parents (as told in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ).

And after this manner do they bear record: The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father;
And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father.
And it came to pass that when Jesus had made an end of praying unto the Father, he arose; but so great was the joy of the multitude that they were overcome.
And it came to pass that Jesus spake unto them, and bade them arise.
And they arose from the earth, and he said unto them: Blessed are ye because of your faith. And now behold, my joy is full.
And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.
And when he had done this he wept again;
And he spake unto the multitude, and said unto them: Behold your little ones.
And as they looked to behold they cast their eyes towards heaven, and they saw the heavens open, and they saw angels descending out of heaven as it were in the midst of fire; and they came down and encircled those little ones about, and they were encircled about with fire; and the angels did minister unto them. ~3Nephi 17:16-24

To their parents he quoted Isaiah, saying, “All thy children shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy children.” 3Nephi 22:13; Isaiah 54:13

Creation Story Helps Build Teens' Self-Worth
(Native Americans are "People of the Book", too!
Their history is in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ)

Book of Mormon prophets repeatedly teach of Adam as the first man, created in the image of God.
The cultural connection with God as a loving father helps youth overcome the identity crisis fostered by secular teachings in schools. In an age of atheism, Judaic-Christian cultural identity has in fact been shown to promote peace of mind through social stability and moral values in children and adolescents.

In addition to Christ’s atoning sacrifice and resurrection, many other historical references are found in the Book of Mormon which verify biblical accounts, thus offering valuable aid to those parents whose children are taught in school to doubt their Judaic-Christian roots.

A partial list of Verifications of the Bible found in the Book of Mormon includes:

During his visit, Jesus showed parents an example of teaching with parables. He broke bread with his friends as he taught them, making dinner talk a parable of his ministry. Today the dinner talk format is still integral to Christian parenting. The Easter story and other heroic stories in this American epic provide a rich source of character education principles for parents of all religious affiliations.
